Late race-day registration is $23 for 5K and $25 for 10K. Race packet pickup is available Oct. 16 from 4-6 p.m. at Running Wild in Pensacola and on race day from from 6:30-7:30 a.m. at Midway Fire Station in Gulf Breeze. Arrowhead Junior Golf Tour: Milton junior golfers ages 12-18 are invited to compete in the AJGT Tchefuncta Junior Classic at Tchefuncta Country Club in Covington, Louisiana on the weekend of Oct. 17th-18th. The two-day, 36-hole tournament is ranked by the National Junior Golf Scoreboard and hosted by the Arrowhead Junior Golf Tour. The tournament registration deadline is Saturday, Oct.


Registration now open for Pink October Run

THE registration for the 3k, 5k and 10k �Pink October Run� on Oct. 4 is now open. The assembly time for the �Pink October Run� is at 5 a.m. at the Terraces of the Ayala Center Cebu Mall. The run will start at 6 a.m. There will also be a 1K walk around the Cebu Business Park. �We hope to increase awareness among the public on the early diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. We also believe that running is one of the best forms of promoting a healthy lifestyle,� said Fun Run chairman Dr. Peter Mancao. �We also would like to encourage the participants and their family to attend the Lay Forum on Breast Cancer awareness during the post race program,� he added. The run is jointly organized by the Philippine College of Surgeons Cebu - Eastern Visayas Chapter, Ayala Center Cebu Mall, I Can Serve Group and the Rotary Club of Cebu Fuente.


10k run and diet changes see landlady shed pounds

"We concentrated on running and building my leg muscles," said Fay. "Leonie and I did a 10k run a few weeks before the race just so I knew I could do it. On the flat it took me an hour and 31 minutes. On the day, with all the hills, it was an hour and 26 minutes.

" I set a target of an hour and 45 minutes to include the hills so I did better than expected. It was a big relief and an achievement."

Fay has signed up for another challenge — the Great West Run half marathon in May next year. She is now training with Leonie once a week, concentrating on her core fitness using a medicine ball, step and weights as well as some sprinting. She runs with friends once a week and uses a resistance band, which is similar to using weights, at home.

Fay is also sticking to the healthy eating regime suggested by Leonie.
