After transferring to UAB, he had 218 yards and three touchdowns last year. He has 24 yards and two TDs in UAB's first two games. 3Troy center Danny Franks and UAB center Jake Seitz are both finalists for the Rimington and Lombardi awards. The Rimington goes to the nation's top center and the Lombardi to the top lineman. 4UAB junior receiver Frantrell Forrest is two catches away from 100 career receptions. He has totaled 1,212 yards and 10 touchdowns. UK Coach Rich Brooks used last weekend's trip to Cincinnati for the Miami game to do some scouting, as he traveled via helicopter to check out Northern Kentucky prospects Austen Collinsworth (Highlands) and Miles Simpson (Simon Kenton). The Wildcats have seven commitments for 2010: Ohio teammates Tyler Brause (6-4, 220, QB/ATH) and Teven Eatman, (6-7, 280 TE/OL), South Carolina defensive end Justin Henderson (6-4, 228); LaGrange kicker Joseph Mansour, Murfreesboro, Tenn., defensive lineman Tim McAdoo (6-2, 310) and Georgia running back Raymond Sanders (5-8, 175). And safety Mychal Bailey, a LaGrange (Ga.). product who signed with UK in 2007 before enrolling at Southwest Mississippi Junior College, is also expected to re-sign with the Cats in February. .

Running back Cartel Brooks rushed for 165 yards and four touchdowns and caught a TD pass last week. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound senior is the Northern Ohio League's leading rusher. "Without Cartel, we wouldn't be in this position," quarterback Jack Nicholls said. "He has stepped up and made plays for us all season." Nicholls has thrown for 439 yards and seven TDs. The converted wide receiver inherited the job from older brother Alex, who is playing at Mount Union this year. "Even though we didn't play our best against Upper Sandusky, the offense stepped up when it had to," Nicholls said. "Last year against them (a 10-0 Upper Sandusky win), the offense never got going." While Galion's offense has averaged more than 31 points and 344 yards a game, the defense has allowed a NOL-low 72 points.
Wellesley armed and dangerous in opener against Weymouth gridders

Melton RFC Seconds prepare for league season with demolition
The most enjoyable part of the game for all who played and watched was Ben Warwick's impressive break, running clear of the defence before placing the ball for the try, but doing so on the five metre line and the crowds cheers turned to laughter.Melton ran away with the game, but LFE never gave up and stopped the rampaging Melton reaching the line a few times.
