Vain fear of getting dumped

Whoever possesses loses but she who surrenders shall possess, get shaken up and receive love running over.

Case of insecurity

Let me tell you the story of a couple I know David and Juliet. They were the archetypal perfect couple that every one in the neighbourhood admired. However, a few days ago, Juliet came to me, her heart bleeding to the marrow. Her man was gone. In between sobs she said: "He just wanted to get in between my thighs, harvest his honey and move on to the next beehive. I knew it, I always read it in his eyes that he never cared at all".

"There! There! Dumpophobia!" I exclaimed quietly in my heart.

After the incident, David swore never to fall in love again.

The two lovebirds had been the model of perfect relationships that just got crushed.

The Breakdown: Better than mayo

Paying money to run for an extended amount of time would be another item on that list.Don't get me wrong, I understand that some people love running and love running in races. It's just like how some men enjoy wearing capris: Everyone has different tastes, and running just isn't my thing.Somehow, I was talked into it on Labor Day. It was a 10-mile run in Denver. It started in City Park, traveled through a couple other parks and wound up in Washington Park. It was aptly named Park To Park. Why was I doing this? The answer was pretty easy: The race benefited pancreatic cancer research. As I'm sure is the case for nearly everyone reading this, I know people affected by the disease. Really, when there's something you can do to support a cause that you believe in, it's pretty hard to turn down. (Note: There was also an extreme amount of nagging, whoops, I mean encouraging from my wife, who enjoys these types of races.)So there I was on Monday — running and running and running. Now, I know that some of you out there have ran marathons or ultra-endurance races and could probably run 10 miles backpedaling.

Mozambique: Beira Hospital Denies Running Out of Drugs

Beira — The director of the Beira Central Hospital, Augusto Come, has denied allegations that his institution is running out of medicines and other equipment, as claimed by the Sofala provincial delegate of the opposition Mozambique Democratic Movement (MDM), Flora Impula.

Last weekend, as part of the MDM's campaign for the forthcoming general elections, Impula said that the hospital, one of the largest in the country, is short of drugs and gloves.

A tarnished star returns

Dressed up and given a snazzy modern nickname as the "Wildcat," it involves directly snapping the ball to a runner or running quarterback, increasing the confusion on the defense as to the design of the play and giving the ball-carrier's blockers a chance to outnumber the defenders on the line of scrimmage. It had fallen into disuse because, if used incorrectly, the tactic is likely to result in severe damage to the runner. But Vick, a middling passer but an electrifying runner, seems born to flourish using this tactic.

So expect to see Vick play on Sunday – and don't expect to see protests from animal lovers. In fact, given that one of the best-selling pieces of replica kit this year is Vick's number 7 Eagles shirt, expect to see a great deal of excitement if he runs onto the field.

"There were 30 or 40 kids out there smashing bottles and it was the same on Saturday. "The kids are running the town.We moved here six years ago. We came from Manchester which was rough and here it was lovely to see clean streets and no shutters on windows.,"Now things are getting beyond a joke. I had a window broken about eight months ago. "I think the place is going down."Owner of the neighbouring off-licence, Shanthakumar Balasingham, said part of the problem was proxy sales – older people buying drink and giving it to those under age.He added: "Kids are drinking and smashing bottles outside the shop and throwing empty cans all over the floor."They sit smoking cigarettes and they are all under-age, about 14 or 15. I call the police and when they come the kids run off and when the police go, the kids come back again."When we bought the shop a year-and-a-half ago it was quiet but now it's getting worse and worse."People living nearby are also affected. One neighbour, who asked not to be named, said: "It's disgusting round the chippy because of the broken glass."A mother of two children, who also asked not to be named, said: "You see the kids with drink in carrier bags.

Jefferson High drops baseball due to funding shortfall

"She's a senior in her first year of running cross country,'' said Peter Gilmore, a top American marathon runner who is helping out with the coaching at Hillsdale following the death of coach Randy Hurst. "She had always done club soccer in the past. She ran a 5:04 mile in track without running in the fall. Now that she's doing that, we'll see where it goes. She's quite an athlete.''

Hillsdale's Mitchell Lee ran 13:00 to take second in his race and share, with Menlo-Atherton's Joe Ocon, the top time turned in by a San Mateo County boys runner.

"Mitchell is a great kid who has really bought in to the whole ethos that if you work hard, build up mileage and show up every day, you're going to get better,'' Gilmore said. "Now we're really starting to see results. He's got a good head on his shoulders and loves to race.''

At the Stanford Invitational, Aragon's Lauren Croshaw had the best showing of any San Mateo County girls runner with a time of 19:13 over 5,000 meters, the 42nd-best time overall out of 1,007 runners.

Heeding a call to outsource

Why would you invite unnecessary stress into your life when you could be doing what you love? And earning a living while you're at it!

My aha moment came during a recent business seminar when I heard Deborah Schilling, a Realtor in Marstons Mills, warn against the dangers of trying to do everything oneself.

It was only after investing hours of time trying, unsuccessfully, to launch a blog for her business that Schilling saw the light. "This is crazy," she thought. "I'm spending hours trying to micromanage details, instead of finding someone else to do it."

No matter that Schilling was reasonably proficient at tasks like managing her Web site, it was time to hire a virtual assistant.

"The fine points of getting blogs up and running, managing Web sites, updating content can be done so efficiently if you have the proper person," she pointed out to me.
