Olson era off to great start running Bucs offense
Olson was hired as quarterbacks coach last year and was promoted Sept. 3 when the Bucs fired Jeff Jagodzinski only 10 days before the season opener. Now, he's responsible for devising a new weekly game plan while helping his quarterbacks implement the details. "It was tough on him," said Byron Leftwich, who wasn't sacked or intercepted against the Cowboys in posting a passer rating of 89.1. "All that week he was running around. I know he wasn't getting much sleep at night because his responsibility changed - just like that. For us to go out there and play the way we played offensively is great." Only six times in franchise history have the Bucs gained more yards than they accumulated against the Cowboys, who led the NFL in sacks last year and came away dazed and confused.
United's Emilio May Be Rebounding Just in Time
After faltering on three chances in the first half, Emilio needed less than two minutes to break a scoreless tie against Marathon of Honduras in the CONCACAF Champions League. He then played an integral part in Jaime Moreno's goal and added his second of the evening to cap a 3-0 victory that enhanced United's bid for a quarterfinal berth. "Forwards, when they can't score goals for a long time or miss a lot of goals in a short time, it is bad for us," Emilio explained Saturday. "But the good thing is, after we score, we get back the confidence. I recovered my confidence. I am feeling much better." United is hoping Emilio's resurgence continues to the league schedule, which resumes Sunday at RFK Stadium with a vital match against the San Jose Earthquakes (5-12-7).
