Vain fear of getting dumped

Whoever possesses loses but she who surrenders shall possess, get shaken up and receive love running over.

Case of insecurity

Let me tell you the story of a couple I know David and Juliet. They were the archetypal perfect couple that every one in the neighbourhood admired. However, a few days ago, Juliet came to me, her heart bleeding to the marrow. Her man was gone. In between sobs she said: "He just wanted to get in between my thighs, harvest his honey and move on to the next beehive. I knew it, I always read it in his eyes that he never cared at all".

"There! There! Dumpophobia!" I exclaimed quietly in my heart.

After the incident, David swore never to fall in love again.

The two lovebirds had been the model of perfect relationships that just got crushed.

Thai lottery no game for Burma's kids

Defense lawyers for these kids have had to make requests to the courts that their clients be examined medically and dentally so as to estimate their ages.

In the Daik U case there was no such difficulty. All the judge had to do was to postpone it long enough to allow for both sides to bring more documents on the ages of the girls, and if necessary, verify these with the concerned officials. He didn't do this and today the three – Sanda Win, Amy Htun and Thuza Khaing – are behind bars.

To add insult to injury, two of them had to pay for the costs of their transfer to prison, including the meals of their police escorts.

The Child Law authorizes the social welfare minister to order the release of any child detained in Burma, no strings attached. This case needs to be reopened so that the correct ages of the girls are ascertained and the minister can make the order at once.

Andrew Robb: my struggle to deal with depression

I've had it as a little kid and I just thought I am not a morning person. I suspect I am no different to many others. But it meant that most of the day I'd be firing. I'm a decision maker, I like solving problems, I like doing things, that's why I'm in the Parliament I think, trying to make things happen. But I go to sleep taking on the world, in a good mood, and when I wake up everyday for the last 50 years that I can remember I'd be negative. The instance I woke up I'd be very negative, lacking confidence, not wanting to make decisions and it would just last a couple of hours…

NEIL MITCHELL: Not wanting to get out of bed I suppose…

ANDREW ROBB: Well a lot of that yeah. I never liked getting out of bed. But you know I am not Robinson Crusoe in that respect. I just thought this is, this is normal thing, other people have it.

Running wild at the zoo

The Zoo Run Run is a fundraiser for the free zoo in Madison. It's the 4th annual event.

There was a 5K & 10K run and also a 5K walk on Sunday morning.

We caught up with some of the younger participants after they crossed the finish line.

"We like to run a lot and the fact that it is around the zoo, I think that's pretty cool," says Eva Gonzalez.

"Some the hills were challenging for me," adds Kate Vanderhoef. "But, the (drinking) water made it better."

No word on how much money was raised.

Carlene Lucas back in District 2 race

I'm running because I don't think all children are receiving an equal opportunity. Here in [District 2], eight of [the schools] have [more than 40 percent free and reduced lunch students]. Out of that eight, five of those schools are failing. To me, the other ones are not that far behind because they say only 60 percent are making a three or four on their [end-of-grade] tests. Sixty percent to me is not acceptable. To me, that's not passing. We need at least 90 percent of our students passing.

We have some [people] that are against diversity, but I think when we don't have it, that's when we are creating more unequal opportunities because it is hard to attract and retain high-quality teachers [at schools with a high percentage of poor students]. Those students are not held to high standards, and the curriculum is not as rigorous as it is for other schools.
